How does physiotherapy work
Physiotherapy mainly uses physical exercises to improve and restore mobility. The patient’s journey consists of the following steps:
Registration
Register for your first appointment through our website or the nationwide e-Registry. If you have a referral from your family doctor or a specialist, register for an appointment with a referral, in which case the service is covered by the Health Insurance Fund. If you do not have a referral, you can choose a private appointment – the fee can be paid either personally or through private health insurance.
Appointment
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time. From the waiting area, you will soon be guided to the appropriate room. Outdoor shoes should be left outside the therapy room.
To ensure you can move freely, wear comfortable clothing or bring a change of clothes. The therapist may ask you to briefly undress in order to better assess the affected area. They will ask about your medical history, complaints, and symptoms, and will evaluate the condition of the problem area.
The initial appointment lasts up to 60 minutes, depending on the nature of the health concern.
Personal treatment plan
After the assessment, the physiotherapist explains the likely cause of the problem and creates a personal treatment plan. The plan usually includes an exercise program and advice for restoring health. It takes into account your goals, preferences, and lifestyle to find the most suitable way to achieve results.
Home exercises are usually done for 2–4 weeks. After that, the physiotherapist evaluates progress and adjusts the treatment plan if necessary. The optimal number of therapy sessions depends on the health concern and your goals.
At the end of the therapy process, the physiotherapist provides you with a “toolbox” of exercises and recommendations that help you prevent and manage problems independently in the future.
